What is a Christina Piercing?

The Christina piercing is a female intimate surface piercing, positioned vertically where the upper part of the outer labia meets the pubic tissue. It does not pass through the clitoris and is chosen mainly for aesthetic appearance. The procedure is performed only after anatomical evaluation, as stability depends on tissue thickness, natural direction of the area, and suitable jewellery.

Positioning and anatomy

A procedure that starts with proper evaluation.

Positioning is determined based on anatomy, tissue thickness, fold direction, and space needed for the jewellery.

The goal is a balanced result, with suitable jewellery and as little unnecessary pressure on the tissue as possible, reducing the risk of migration and rejection.

Christina piercing performed exclusively according to anatomy.

The Christina piercing is a female intimate surface piercing, performed vertically in the upper vulva area, at the transition to pubic tissue. It is not a piercing that passes through the clitoris and is not designed as a functional piercing for stimulation.

Tissue thickness, area shape, and natural direction influence positioning and long-term stability.

Christina jewellery

For the initial procedure, usually a curved jewellery or a piece designed for this area is used, chosen based on anatomy and the space needed for initial swelling.

After healing, jewellery change is done only after area evaluation and only if the tissue is stable, without persistent sensitivity, migration, or thinning.

Healing of the Christina piercing

The area may stabilise initially in the first weeks, but complete healing can take about 3–6 months, depending on anatomy, friction, and care.

During this period, it is important to reduce friction, direct pressure, tight clothing, and premature jewellery changes. Intimate activities causing tension or direct contact with the area should be avoided until there is no sensitivity and the piercer confirms good progress.

Anatomical evaluation is mandatory

The Christina piercing is not suitable for every anatomy. The final decision is made only after direct evaluation of the area by the piercer.

Female intimate piercing: options and differences.

The category of female intimate piercings includes surface placements and distinct anatomical placements, each with different indications, jewellery, and risks.

Christina

Aesthetic, surface piercing.

It is positioned vertically on the upper part of the vulva, towards the pubic area. It does not pass through the clitoris and is not intended for stimulation.

VCH

Different positioning.

The VCH piercing is made through the vertical fold of the clitoral hood, only if the anatomy allows. It differs from the Christina in position and purpose.

Other options

Only after evaluation.

Nefertiti, HCH, labia and other intimate piercings require individual anatomical assessment and are not suitable for everyone.

Jewellery for Christina Piercing.

For the initial procedure, the jewellery must follow the shape and thickness of the tissue without creating tension. A piercer may recommend a curved bar or a specially designed piece for this placement.

Rings are generally not the first choice for initial healing as they move more and can cause pressure or snagging. Decorative designs are chosen after healing and only if the area is stable.

Healing and intimate activity

Complete healing can take approximately 3–6 months, sometimes longer. The duration depends on anatomy, friction, clothing, physical activity, care, and any episodes of irritation.

Intimate contact, pressure, and activities that strain the area should be avoided initially and resumed gradually only when there is no pain, swelling, or sensitivity. Protective barriers and careful hygiene reduce exposure to fluids and microorganisms but do not replace evaluation by the piercer or a doctor.

Migration and rejection

Being a surface piercing, the Christina has a higher risk of migration or rejection than some piercings through deeper tissue. Signs may include thinning skin, increased visibility of the bar, shifting of the holes, or persistent sensitivity.

Careful care. Constant protection.

Healing depends on hygiene, suitable underwear, and avoiding friction.

What you should do.

  • Gently clean the area with sterile saline solution, as recommended by the piercer.
  • Wash your hands before touching the area.
  • Dry by gentle patting, without rubbing.
  • Wear clean, breathable, and comfortable underwear.
  • Contact the studio for persistent irritation; for fever, increasing pain, or purulent discharge, seek medical evaluation.

What you should avoid.

  • Do not twist or forcibly move the jewellery.
  • Do not use alcohol, spirits, or hydrogen peroxide.
  • Avoid tight clothing and repeated friction.
  • Avoid direct pressure and intimate contact that irritates the area during the initial period.
  • Don't change the jewellery too early.
