Septum piercing: anatomy, jewellery and healing.
The septum piercing is a form of nasal piercing with a long history in various cultures, but meanings and practices have differed between communities. Today it is mainly chosen as a style and self-expression element.
The modern procedure must be done after anatomical evaluation. Not every septum has the same structure, and the suitable position is not determined by visual inspection alone.
For an overview of this area, you can also consult the page Nose piercing, and for jewellery types see the guide Piercing Shapes.
